As the 2016-17 ski season becomes a fond memory, there are still plenty of activities available to visitors to the High Country of Colorado. In fact, Easter weekend is a lovely time to visit the majestic Colorado Rockies. There are still winter activities to enjoy in beautiful Summit County, enhanced by the promise of spring, warming air, and plenty of sunshine.

Events for the Whole Family

Easter brings with it many events focused on family and adventures for the young and young at heart.

Arapahoe Basin hosts their annual Beach n’ Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday, which is a free event with thousands of eggs hidden that are filled with goodies. Hunt locations are offered for skiers and non-skiers, so no one is left out of the fun. The Easter bunny and chick will be on hand to welcome all the kids.

Head to Breckenridge for Easter egg hunts for various age groups, including a toddler area for ages three and under that is safely fenced. Breckenridge also offers a special experience of a sunrise Easter service on the mountain. Participants take the ski lift up the mountain for the service without the requirement for lift tickets. No ski equipment is permitted on the lift for this service.

Copper Mountain goes all-out for Easter, starting with an Easter breakfast at 8:00am. Every age is taken into consideration with on-mountain hunts for all ages, down to a hunt for ages three and under in the Center Village. Copper Mountain’s phenomenal Easter egg hunt is billed as the world’s largest, with 65,000 eggs hidden over an expansive 2,500 acres.

In an effort to be conscious of the environment, Copper Mountain encourages the lucky egg-finders to turn in empty eggs for reuse in future years. In fact, the first 800 kids to turn in empty eggs are rewarded with free chocolate.

The Town of Frisco welcomes the Easter Bunny on Sunday, April 16th to challenge kids 8 and under to find the 5,000 eggs that he has filled with candy and hidden in the Frisco Historic Park and the Frisco Town Hall area. The Easter Bunny will gladly pose with kids of all ages for pictures and selfies, then he will kick off the Easter egg hunt by ringing the historic schoolhouse bell. The environmentally conscious Frisco Easter Bunny will be happy to collect empty eggs to reuse for future hunts.

Keystone’s Edgewater Café presents a delicious Easter breakfast, along with an Easter egg hunt for the kids.
