Summit County has 4 exceptional cross country skiing and snowshoeing facilities, and our Frisco location lies in the center of it all.

Close at hand is the renowned Frisco Nordic Center, part of Frisco’s acclaimed Adventure Park. Located at the Peninsula Recreation Area on the shores of Lake Dillon, the Nordic Center is convenient and authentic, offering a first-class facility for skating, classic skiing and even snowshoeing, all in a true Rocky Mountain setting. In addition to abundant natural snow, the Frisco Nordic Center can also call on man-made snow to ensure excellent conditions from mid-November to April. Lessons are available, along with rental and demo equipment, and each season the Nordic Center hosts several races for all types of competitors. Keystone’s Nordic Center offers more than 9 miles (16 kilometers) of groomed trails and provides access to more than 35 miles (57 kilometers) of nearby trails through the White River National Forest (requiring a 3-5 mile drive to the trailheads). Cross-country skiing, ski skating, snowshoeing, lessons, rentals, and guided tours are available. Take part in special programs like Ladies Days, Mountain Top Treks, Eco Hikes and Full Moon Tours. The Breckenridge Nordic Center offers an extensive 25 Km groomed trail system for classic and skate skiing and 17 Km of scenic nature single track trails for snowshoeing. Trails traverse in and through old growth spruce forests with many scenic overlooks. Ski the beauty of the Town of Breckenridge’s “Protective Management Area” in the Cucumber Gulch Preserve along the Beaver Meadows Trail and participate in the Nordic Nature Series – Interpretive Snowshoe Adventures. To get away from it all…enjoy the newly expanded groomed cross-country skiing trail system in The New Nordic World on Peaks 6 & 7 in the White River National Forest…nearly 1,400 acres, under permit by the USDA, Forest Service. Enjoy “Kathy’s Viewpoint” cabin with sauna, and the “Hallelujah Hut”. Both are destination warming huts that are heated and open all day. There are even some dog friendly trails for Nordic skiing on Peaks 6 & 7, and self guided snowshoe trails for dogs on a leash. Inside the classic Nordic Chalet you will find wood burning stoves, lounges, a full retail and rental shop offering clothing, accessories, skis and snowshoes. Ski Lessons & Guided Snowshoe Adventures are offered four times daily and some moonlit evenings by reservation.
